Whack-a-Mole – a New Interactive Floor Game for Active Learning

Moles are popping up across the floor, and children must stomp them before they disappear. That is the simple, irresistible premise of Whack-a-Mole — an interactive floor game that immediately gets children moving and laughing.

But there is more to it than reflexes. Like the best WizeFloor apps, Whack-a-Mole combines physical activity with learning content. Moles can display letters, numbers, images, or categories, so children are not just stomping — they are practising. Only stomp the vowels. Only hit the moles showing animals. Find the numbers from the five times table. Teachers and pedagogues can customise which moles appear, what they show, and how the game is structured — across multiple levels that increase in challenge and pace.

To get you started straight away, we have created five ready-made games built on the template. Catch the Mole is the classic version — little moles pop up from the ground and children must react fast. The Flying Targets puts a new spin on the format, with targets moving through the air for children to hit. Catch Flies sends a spider spinning across the floor as children help it catch the flies caught in its web. The Sorting Station sees robots teaming up and children must identify and sort items correctly as they appear. And The Correct Equations adds a mathematics challenge, asking children to find and stomp only the correct equations from those popping up on screen.

All five are available directly in the community library from today — and because they are built on the same template, you can use them as-is or customise and remix them for your own group.

Plates – Competitive Interactive Floor Game

Plates drops children into a busy kitchen, where plates come flying across the counter and players compete to hit their own and score more points than their opponent before time runs out. It is fast, visual, and immediately engaging — the kind of interactive floor game that needs no explanation before children are already playing.

Three ready-made games built on the template are available in the library now. The Wild Kitchen challenges players to find and hit only the plates carrying the correct icon — adding a sharp focus element to the competition. The Witch’s Brewery moves the action to a magical setting, where players must catch the correctly coloured potions flying across the floor. And Letter Hunt brings a literacy twist to the format, as players compete to find vowels or consonants first — making it a great way to practise letter recognition in a genuinely competitive setting.

As with all WizeFloor templates, the content, background, and settings are fully customisable, so you can build your own themed version and share it with the community.

New Grid-Based Menu for Wall-Based Interactive Floor Systems

We have redesigned the app selection menu with wall-based WizeFloor installations in mind. The previous menu layout did not translate well to vertical screens, but the new grid-based design makes it much easier to browse and launch apps — whether you are navigating by touch, throwing a ball at the screen, or using a keyboard.

Keyboard and touch accessibility have also been improved throughout, making the whole experience faster and more reliable. If you are running WizeFloor on a wall system, you will notice the difference immediately.

Faster Live Search Across the Game Library

Finding the right interactive floor learning game for your session just got quicker. We have made improvements to the live search feature, so you can locate games and content across the full library with less friction — whether you know exactly what you are looking for or are browsing for inspiration.

• Tracking efficiency: The improved setup allows for a precise interaction on the floor surface with the LiDAR sensor.
  
• Larger, shadow-free projection: The ultra-short throw laser projector allows for a larger display area on the floor while greatly reducing shadows. This helps maintain focus and ensures a clear view for all involved. Projection can be up to 3.7 m x 2.1 m.
  
• Built in touch screen control: The addition of a built-in touch screen makes it easy for you to select and switch between games – without needing a separate device. From a teacher’s perspective it also gives more classroom control or greater autonomy for children in choosing and navigating games.

Smart Offline Mode – keep playing without an internet connection

With the new Smart Offline Mode, it’s now easier than ever to use WizeFloor—even in situations with an unstable or unavailable internet connection. The feature automatically syncs games and content in the background, so you can continue your activities without interruption—even completely offline if needed.

How it works:

• When downloading content, games and materials are saved locally by default, while online features such as the “Newest,” “Popular,” and other sections, as well as highscores, remain active.
• If you wish to operate entirely without a network connection, you can select “Disable online features” during content download.
• Alternatively, you can activate Smart Offline Mode via Settings > Advanced > Use local content. In this mode, games will automatically be saved locally as you use them.

The result is a more stable and flexible experience—especially valuable in educational environments or spaces with inconsistent internet access.

Support for New Cameras – ready for the future

The system has now been updated to support newer Orbbec cameras and the TUIO protocol, opening up even more possibilities for hardware setup and future integrations.

This paves the way for new types of interactive installations and makes it easier to use alternative and modern sensor solutions.

We are excited to announce the latest update to our WizeFloor software, featuring a host of new features and improvements designed to enhance your experience. 

As always, this update also includes essential bug fixes to ensure the overall software runs smoothly. So keep an eye out for the “Update Available” button in your floor menu.

RoboTrax Updates

Our RoboTrax application has received an upgrade based on customer feedback! You can now control the robot’s movements using rotation buttons, providing more precise and dynamic interaction. This feature also adds a layer of complexity for older children, as it requires more abstract thinking. Look for the new “Buttons” dropdown in the “Board Setup” section for RoboTrax games to enable this new feature in your games.

Additionally, we’ve introduced the ability to play games in sequence, allowing you to seamlessly progress to the next level. In this way you can prepare a number of levels in your game and progress to the next level by pressing the “Continue” button after succesful completion. 

Last but not least it is now possible to specify the origin of the board, so it follows a more traditional x,y coordinate system, where the origin is in the bottom left corner. Look for the “Grid origin” setting in the editor.

New Onboarding Experience

To ensure a smooth start for new users, we’ve implemented a new onboarding flow when installing WizeFloor the first time. This feature will guide you through the initial setup and help you get started the best way possible with WizeFloor. We’ll ensure the internet is working, the correct product type is set, and the camera is adjusted, so you can start exploring the available games without any hassle.
